Updates and Information for Spirit Programs in California

  1. Check out the recent cheerleading safety article posted by Dr. Terry Zeigler EdD, ATC. Dr. Zeigler is a professor in the Kinesiology Department at Vanguard University and the Athletic Training Education Program Director. She is also a Clinical Instructor Educator and an Approved Clinical Educator. With over twenty years experience working with college athletes as a Certified Athletic Trainer, Dr. Zeigler specializes in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

The CHSCDA has officially partnered with The National Cheer Safety Foundation and The Spirit Consultants to improve cheerleading safety, education and training for all coaches, advisors and cheerleaders throughout California.   3. Costa Mesa High School was recently named winner of the American School Spirit Award presented by UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association). Kori Johnson, head coach and advisor, along with a few of her cheerleaders will be presented with the award at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida this February. The CMHS Cheerleading Program actively participates in numerous community service events and has a team G.P.A of 3.48. Congratulations to Kori, her cheerleaders and the entire Costa Mesa High School community!
